 Database Specialist

Duties: 

The successful incumbent will work closely with the current
Database Manager in the development of a range of bibliometric
databases, with the aim of strengthening SciSTIP’s current capacity in
database management and bibliometric analysis 

Requirements: 

A relevant Bachelors degree (Computer Science, Mathematics & Statistics
will serve as a strong recommendation) * familiarity with Linux system
administration in a production environment * programming experience in
Python, SQL, HTML and JavaScript * the desire and ability to learn new
technologies *  the ability to work well in a team.  

Recommendations:

Practical experience in web server administration * practical experience
in the administration of one of the following databases: PostgreSQL;
MySQL; Oracle; or another SQL database * practical experience in the use
of Web2py or another Python MVC-framework for development * programming
experience in C, Pascal, OCaml, JQuery, Ruby, Perl, Bash or other
languages.



Commencement of duties: 1 October or as soon as possible thereafter
