I can't get onto Glug-work so I'm posting this here in the hope of it 
being passed onto the Joburg members

GIBB is currently looking to employ an energetic *IT Specialist* with 
all-round skills at our office in *Sunninghill*.

GIBB is a consulting engineering company with offices in all major 
centres, and is a major user of open source software, Our system is 
based on a  distributed Samba/Openldap implementation, with Kolab 
groupware for mail and calendaring.We are always moving forward and you 
get carte blanche to play around with relevant open source stuff. We use 
Debian but we are not religious about it.

Windows servers are also used for specific purposes and all workstations 
are Windows 7/XP (except mine).

*Key Responsibilities*:

·Oversee IT operations, planning support functions, taking corrective 
action where necessary and make suggestions for improvements;

·Support of in-house software, hardware and operating systems, upgrading 
of servers;

·Management of IT Technicians;

·Support MS Office and all common office applications and utilities;

·Remote- and mobile user support;

·Support all variety Windows (incl. server) and Linux operating systems;

·Support peripherals (printers, scanners, plotters, etc.);

·Support common CAD and other engineering applications (installation, 
configuration, advice, etc.) to ensure optimal usage;

·Ad hoc training of users on Windows application / CAD;

·Support company I.T. infrastructure to ensure minimum downtime;

·Liaise with internal users and external suppliers to provide optimal 
service.

*Minimum Requirements: *

  * *At least 10 years *relevant experience since qualification;
  * Matric (incl. Maths & English), additional qualifications a big
    plus, but we realise geeks don't always have degrees.;
  * Experienced in managing a small I.T. team;
  * Good hands on knowledge of Linux servers and services particulary
    Samba, ldap, imap and smtp;
  * Networking knowledge, DNS, DHCP, TC, routing.
  * VOIP knowledge (Asterisk/Freeswitch) a big plus.
  * Knowledge of MS Office and all common office applications and utilities;
  * General knowledge of IT software and hardware, as well as Windows
    and Linux server operating systems;
  * Dedicated to providing excellent service, engaging with users,
    understanding problems and pro-actively seeking solutions;
  * Self-learner with ability to keep up to date with emerging IT
    technologies;
