Take2.co.za, South Africa’s favourite ecommerce web site, is looking for
highly talented people to join our team in Cape Town. We need committed
people that want to deliver a great service to our customers and shape the
face of ecommerce in Africa.
You will be a systems administration star, with plenty of experience
architecting and operating large clustered applications for the web. Like
any good systems administrator, you are lazy and never do anything by hand.
Instead you prefer to script every deployment, upgrade, and performance
tweak so that it can be automated, repeated, and improved.
You are a first-class engineer and value hard work, tough, challenges, and
working with likeminded people. You dream that everything has 100%
availability, including the office coffee machine.
You come with the experience of working on complex projects with many
interrelated parts and you have a passion for building highly scalable and
manageable solutions.
You understand the importance of being involved with the development team to
analyse system requirements and to guide the systems architecture at an
early stage, and you are constantly reviewing the changing systems and their
interactions to optimise their performance and reliability.
Desired Skills & Experience
Here are some of the systems we are using that we would expect you to have
good understanding and experience managing:
Servers: Linux, Windows Server
Workstations: OSX, Windows
MySQL
Apache HTTP Server
Apache Solr
Nagios
You will be responsible for the operations of our public services as well as
our internal systems, covering the full range from web servers and
datacentre providers, to networking, workstations, and telephony.
If you have the skills to develop great code in a highly dynamic
environment, and you have the desire to shift TAKE2 to the next level, then
we would love to hear from you.
