I've never been fond of recruiters. A long time ago my wife was
looking for a job. We gave her CV to one of these recruiters who
wanted an interview with her. (This was our first encounter with a
recruiter) Because we had only one vehicle at the time, I drove her to
the interview. The recruiter then proceeded to get my details from me,
and I figured, why not, I'm not really looking for a job, but I'm
getting a little irritated with the red tape at my present employer,
maybe they can find us both a job.
Next thing my wife and I are being booked for all the same interviews,
sometimes back to back. In the end I am offered a job I don't really
need, and she finds no job at all.
After that my only experience with recruiters have been the time
wasting/no idea what they are dealing with type. With the exception of
quiglies (who actually found something decent), they have all been
spectacularly incapable of finding a proper job. I put it down to
their being a fundamental disconnect between companies who like open
source and companies who like recruiters.
Anyway, that be my 2c about recruiters.
