*CSAG IT Administrator*

*Fixed term contract position*

The Climate Systems Analysis Group (CSAG) of the Department of 
Environmental and Geographical Science at the University of Cape Town is 
seeking to appoint an IT administrator on a fixed term contract for a 
period of 12 months.

The appointee would ideally have an undergraduate or higher degree, at 
lest 2 years experience, be self motivated and able to work with 
initiative, and familiar with academic research environments. 
Additionally applicants should have strong interpersonal skills and be 
able to work in a team environment. Optimally the candidate would be 
available for immediate appointment or as soon as possibly in 2010.

The position carries responsibilities for implementing a development 
program of the CSAG IT infrastructure, including reorganization of 
servers, virtualization of applications, cluster computing management 
systems, and the student computing lab.

In addition, the appointee will oversee and mentor the skill development 
of a junior IT-administrator through on-the-job training to equip that 
person to manage and maintain the IT-infrastructure after the contract 
period is completed.

dependent on applicant’s skills and experience.
