Job Title: Systems Engineer

Description:
We are a UK based Internet Service Provider with an operations office  
in Cape Town. We provide service to a number of Blue Chip customers  
and are currently growing and developing a large virtualised hosting  
platform.

We are currently recruiting a Systems Engineer to join our team. This  
is an exciting oppurtunity for individuals who wish to gain exposure  
at the forefront of technology.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in Open Source  
Technologies and will have 1-2 years proven experience in maintaining/ 
supporting Linux systems. This is a great opportunity for someone  
wishing to learn and gain enterprise experience.

Experience/Skills required:

    * 1-2 years Linux/Open Source experience
    * Previous scripting experience (for example PHP, Perl, Ruby, Bash  
or similar)
    * Database management and maintenance (MySQL or PostgreSQL)
    * Previous exposure to any other Open Source technologies would be  
beneficial but is not essential (e.g. Asterisk, Xen, Samba, NFS,  
Nagios, iptables-firewall etc)

Responsibilities:

    * Maintenance of Infrastructure and Customer Servers
    * Technical support via email
    * Research and development of new technologies
    * Design and deployment of new systems
    * Day to day IT administration tasks

Salary:

    * Market rate, depending on experience

This is a training-focused position. Candidates will receive extensive  
in service training throughout their employment. Candidates will be  
evaluated on aptitude and attitude, not just experience/skills.
