Hi all,

We require the services of a Junior Software Analyst.

The position has not been advertised in public yet, but the official HR
lowdown follows at the end.

Here it is in plain language, though:

* We have a software system where the servers are distributed across
three UNIX servers, and hundreds of windows clients connect to these
servers from our stores all across the country.
* The environment is very dynamic and it is the job of the software
development team to continually enhance the systems to keep our ever
growing customer base happy, and to stay ahead of our competitors.
* This position is NOT for being part of the software development team.
* This position is NOT for writing code 100% of the time.
* This position IS for:
-- working in parallel with the software development team, 
-- coming up with suggestions for new designs to satisfy new business
requirements, 
-- finding the root cause of reported defects, and come up with
solutions,
-- stepping back and thinking about how things are done, and always
trying to improve upon it.
* This position IS for doing a very wide variety of things -- DO NOT
APPLY  if you want routine!!!
* We use ksh (not bash), and vi (not vim) -- you get used to it though
;-)
* The job is HIGHLY rewarding.
* From this position there are many different directions in which you

Brief Description of the Job:
-----------------------------
Successful candidate will join the in-house analysis & architecture team
to work in a mostly UNIX environment.

Provide operational support, including:
*	analysis of new software developments according to business
specifications, 
*	proposing improvements to existing code,
*	understand the data model of a working telecommunications
company.

Tools and technologies vary widely, including Perl, shell scripting,
SQL, Java and EPM (a proprietary programming language widely used in the
Telecoms industry, with syntax similar to that of Delphi).

Successful candidate will work closely with system administrators,
database administrators, software architects and developers from a
variety of disciplines.

The position holds many opportunities for further career growth within
the company.

Skills & Attributes Required:

Must be self-disciplined and responsible.
Must be willing to learn continuously.
Must be able to communicate well with a variety of people.
Must have a sense of humour.

Qualifications: 
---------------
B.Sc. Computer Science / Engineering / Mathematics
or B.Com. Information Systems
or similar.

Knowledge & Experience: 
-----------------------
Must be comfortable working on Linux or any flavour of UNIX.
Programming experience in any language.
Experience in writing SQL queries.
Must be able to use the "vi" text editor.
Experience with CVS version control system is an advantage, though not
essential.
