Hi Jonathan (2009.09.19_20:07:19_+0200)
> It was really nice having an actual CLUG event again!

Another thank you note to everyone who contributed, and Mark for bringing us
large quantities of lovely free beer.

A status report on the SFD Event:

Hardware:
=========

We installed a new extractor fan in the rear of the toaster, and it has grilles
to keep fingers out (unlike the previous one).

We replaced the touch screen with a slightly better condition one, hopefully we
can get the old one repaired now, as I don't think the "new" one has that many
years left in it.

Thanks to the fan, we turned the lights on again (although only one out of 4
pairs of flourescent tubes came on - I'll try some new starters).

We fitted a new writer, all three of them should now work for the first time in
years.

We only tripped the power in the lab once :)

Toaster OS:
===========

The toaster now runs Ubuntu Jaunty rather than (was it Fiesty?). Adrian spent
half the day fighting touch screen drivers until we discovered the cause was a
bad serial cable. It has been destroyed.

The toaster is still running the previous software, and the install isn't
complete and tested, but I'll see to that tomorrow morning.

Software:
=========

The beginnings were made on a new toaster software system.
We should probably set a date to do more work on this, somewhere with better
connectivity and a real whiteboard. Saturday?

Website:
========

The CLUG wiki has a new theme. There is still a little work to do (and some
social networking integration) but CLUG's part of the internet looks a lot
priettier.

TSL:
====

Once the toaster cabinet was fixed up, we let our hardware gurus loose on our
host, The Shuttleworth Lab. Many network cables were crimped, tested, and
cable-tied into place. With any luck we made the lab much more usable.

I hope everyone had as much fun as I did, and we'll see you all at future CLUG
events.

SR
